Pomodoro

in everyone’s life and daily routines, everyone fights with procrastination. the habit to delay an important task or to do that when it is near the deadline is called procrastination. when we think of the why we procrastinate, the answer is that according to the behavioural psychology the time inconsistency is the main cause of procrastination. it distracts the human brain and make it busy according to the things which gives us a small or at-moment happiness and we forget about our real job or task.

procrastination

it distracts the brain by relaxing the brain that we have a lot of time to do or complete this work and we can easily do it. but then all sudden when the deadline is near, we start to panic and do that work in a hurry which we should have done earlier. then in hurry, we mostly just complete the task, but we do not learn anything from the task, we do not proofread the task and can be made it more precise and unique. at the end we always regret why did we procrastinate and why did not we complete our task earlier. so, most of the times procrastination leads us towards the difficult and hard situations.

Pomodoro technique:

the Pomodoro technique is a method in which a timer of 25 minutes is set, and the work is done avoiding any kind of distractions. then after 25 minutes the 3–5 minutes break is managed and then again, the cycle is repeated. when the four cycles are completed, the long break can be taken of 15–20 minutes. through this method a person can easily focus on his work and can avoid the distractions and can also avoid procrastination. this technique helps people to complete their work with focus and conciseness. and able a person to tackle with laziness.

my experience with Pomodoro:

I was facing issues in completion of my online work because of different kinds of distractions like social media notifications, texts, and family members. in my Amal course, I learnt about the Pomodoro technique. so, I applied that technique for my online course.

I set my timetable. I set a 25-minute timer, put my phone on silent and sit on a side to avoid in-home distractions. I started my work with full attention. but after few minutes I thought I have I have to call one of my friends, but I immediately overcome on this thought and continue my work. after the timer rings, I took a break of 5 minutes and do the call to my friend for 2–3 minutes. then I again set my timer and continued to my work. than related again and again and completed four cycles. and then took a long break. my work was almost completed so I did the remaining work after the long break.

I was surprised as well as happy that I completed my task so easily which I usually did not do on time. it was a bit difficult, but I was happy that I was able to do my task on time.

Pomodoro technique

it was a bit difficult for me because it was the first time, I was working in this manner and was completely avoiding all the distractions.

it helped me a lot to complete my task on time. and help me to manage my work in this easy manner. it was a helpful experience.

I will defiantly try to make it a part of my daily routine as it is a helpful method. it helped me a lot to complete my task on time, I will add this technique in my routine life so I can avoid the habit of procrastination and multitasking. I am going to use it on daily basis to complete my daily tasks of university work and Amal work. I will try to improve my experience by avoiding any kind of distractions. and will always sit in a place where no one can disturb me, and I would be able to avoid sounds and noise coming from anywhere. I will try to manage my timetable according to the Pomodoro and will complete all my tasks. I will try to improve my skills of time management so it could help me more than the first experience and help me to get rid of the habit of procrastination and help me to become a more efficient in time management.

Thank you so much Amal team for allowing us to learn this kind of amazing techniques and helping me to manage my time and help me to avoid procrastination.
